Many freelancers assume the next step is hiring fast and taking on more projects. In reality, if the service is not standardised, each new person only adds more meetings, more mistakes and more delivery pressure.
A small agency should be built once you have a repeatable offer, know what a good project looks like, and have a margin wide enough to pay someone else while keeping the quality.

Package the service before hiring anyone
Write down the inputs, the deliverables, the number of revision rounds, the handover milestones and the client's responsibilities. A well-defined package lets the seller quote quickly, the doer understand the standard, and the client know what happens next.

Do not hire a job title just because other agencies have one. Look at your working week: which step repeats, has a clear standard and is blocking growth? Start with a paid trial project, full documentation and specific evaluation criteria.

- One person is ultimately accountable for each project.
- A quality checklist before anything goes to the client.
- A cap on how many projects run at the same time.
- Short stand-ups to clear bottlenecks, without turning everything into a meeting.
- Track profit, delivery time and revision rounds per package.
Note: Scaling well does not require a large team. A small agency with deep expertise and a clear process is usually healthier than one that takes on every kind of project.
